Top 10 Reasons Why Ebooks are Superior

Without a printed book, it’d be impossible to convey just how much you knew about case law because there’d be nothing to stand in front of, and shut-ins would need to amass twice the number of grocery flyers to burn down their apartments. The book business is changing.

The door is being closed on hard-covers; books that generated a tidy royalty for professors who forced you to buy them and that were the bane of every itinerant’s existence come moving day.

The page is being turned on paperbacks as well. In the time it takes to read this, you can purchase our book and start reading it (which we encourage everyone to do). As McLuhan put it, “it was not until the telegraph that messages could travel faster than the messenger”.

It’s not surprising that in 2011, Amazon reported that sales of e-books surpassed all other formats. We decided to weigh in on why ebooks are better in an article that appeared in Toro Magazine. A couple of our reasons included:

Extending Libraries’ Shelf Life

Thankfully for those of us who hold dear the tenets of the Dewey decimal system, libraries are embracing e-books and the revolution is unlikely to see them go the way of the chain store. However, e-books will significantly improve the library experience as overdue fees would be pointless as there’s nothing to return and you won’t have to put up with some asshole taking out a book before you and marking it up with margin notes and underlined passages.

Hi Gene! I Don’t Care That You Didn’t Wash!

With e-books there is no need to concern yourself with whether you are being given both the gift of literature and the plague when borrowing a book from another person or a library. Also e-books eliminate the need to worry about whether the book you are now holding had previously been a “toilet read.”
